2000 Fundraiser: The May Fair

Nine vendors came to sell their creations. As far as I know, they earned some pretty good sales. Tarot readings and massages were extremely popular all afternoon. Thank you to all the vendors, and stay with us for the upcoming events.

We gained some new volunteers. I must single one of them out: thank you Kevin for helping me take all the clothes back to West Los Angeles. And thanks for keeping up with my erratic driving. Please use the volunteer page to offer your services. We always need volunteers!

700 pounds of clothes

What's this about clothes? Seven hundred pounds of clothes! I weighed them specifically to have bragging rights. It took all morning Monday to get them to the Upward Bound Family Center in Santa Monica, but it was worth it to see the shocked look on the faces of the Family Center volunteers. Their residents, who are poor families trying to get back on their feet, all found useful clothes from our donations. If any are left over (I had the feeling that they were never going to use 700 pounds of clothes), they will be redonated to other organizations in need.

Also, through the entrance fees, auctions, raffles, and straight donations, we raised seed money (a big seed) for the deposit on the location. The raffles were the most fun; we gave away many gifts graciously donated be each vendor in attendance. But we always need money! We will schedule more events and always accept donations. Please contact us to donate money.
