Pagan Pride Day 2002

Pagan Pride Day 2002 took place in El Monte, at the Meadows in Whittier Narrows Park off of the Pomona Freeway. After a small case of sophomore blues in 2001, coupled with the tragedy, we could only hope for a better year. That's what we got. We received advice from you and made changes - not the least of which was better food. Next year we will aim to make everything run on time for once.

Again press coverage eluded us, but this year 870 of you came out to enjoy the day, and we had more vendors and significantly more workshop leaders, authors, and acts. And for the first year, the proceeds from the event combined with the fundraisers, actually paid for the event and the past debt. Please, keep the help coming so we can expand. Find out how to help. Also, we collected 600 pounds of food for the Los Angeles Food Bank, our annual charity, and 160 pounds of clothes and household goods for Orange County charities.

Raven's Cry Grove performed the opening ritual, Covenant of the Goddess performed the main ritual, and Ancient Keltic Church closed us out as they did in 2001. We also had another drum circle led by Randy and Seadna, displays and altars around the event, and as always children's activities and shopping. Workshops covered energy work (Peggy Jentoft), creative writing (Denise Dumars), totem painting (Lucy Tate), quantum shift (Barbara Schiffman), using pendulums (Marsha Smith), seasonal divine cooking (Jamie Wood), foundational myths (Barbara Ardinger), native american traditions (Barbara Ardinger), chakras (Donald Michael Kraig), and witches' ladders (Amy Seiter).

The authors who signed books included Joni Abbatecola, Sandra Mizumoto Posey, Denise Dumars, Selene Silverwind, Rebecca Anderson, Raven Grimassi, Jamie Wood, Barbara Ardinger, Timothy Roderick, Lon Milo Duquette and Donald Michael Kraig. Entertainment included Garry Siler, Shadowcatchers, a serpent transformational dance by Temple of the Goddess, Hutch, Zeora Sage, Brad Banyan, Jenny Sutherland, and Beth the Sybil.
