Pagan Pride Day 2003

The 5th Pagan Pride day has now come and gone. We'd like to thank all 1125 of you for coming. We hope you enjoyed shopping with our 40+ merchants. You brought us at least 800 pounds of food to benefit the Los Angeles Food Bank. The day was beautiful, the weather behaved, and we had excellent entertainment.

Our event was featured in two newspapers. I will hopefully be obtaining archive copies for the press page soon.

Special thanks go to our entertainers, workshops leaders, and authors. We try to offer new things every year to keep the interest level high, and although we had several repeat workshop leaders, their topics were new. We also had two new ritual leaders to complement our existing rituals. We'd like to thank Raven's Cry Grove ADF, Sankofa Pride, ReWeaving, Randy and Seadna, and Raven's Flight/WildeWood Grove for demonstrating Paganism in a positive light while simultaneously presenting rituals that appeal to a wide audience. We couldn't have done it without you. Raven's Flight was especially generous in working with a new photographer who wished to photograph the ritual. The photographer was impressed with what she saw and watching the ritual helped her better understand our faiths.

Once again, we put on this event without going into debt. We came out just above break even, but now we're getting ready to mount PPD 2004. In the coming months we ask for two things if you can spare them: money, we take donations all year (we even have a PayPal link), and ideas for fundraisers. We want to try new things this year and we would love to hear what you think would work, we'd especially like to hear from a few people willing to help plan and execute the fundraisers while we focus on Pagan Pride Day!

We have a feedback form at http://www.paganpridela.org/what/feedback.html. Feel free to let us know what you think of the event or what you would like to see in the future.

This year's workshops included Wisaac of the PATH's "Meditating with the Goddess", Sandy Gunn's "Palmistry for Self-Defense", Raven Grimassi's "Spirituality in Modern Witchcraft", Madog Maelgwn's "The Warrior-Seer", Melody "Buffy" Muir's "Harnessing Elemental Power", Lucy Tate's "Pentacle Painting", Donald Michael Kraig's "Hypnosis for Magick", W.A.R.D.'s "Open Forum on Discrimination", Michelle Hart's "Dancing with En-hedu-Ana", and Bransen's "Choosing a Tarot Deck".

Authors included Selene Silverwind, Alicia Grosso, Denise Dumars, Lori Nyx, Raven Grimassi, Jamie Wood, Joni Abbatecola, Jennifer Reif, Donald Michael Kraig, Lon Milo DuQuette. Performers included Kayla's "Mystic Dance to Aphrodite Pandemos", Musicians Carol Chrisong, Joe HUTCHinson, Jenny Southerland, and Rebekah Greigh, Bagpiper Jason Bond, Dancer Heather Dawn, and the TV show Caffe Latte.

We're always on the lookout for new performers, authors, workshop leaders, and ritual leaders, so if you're interested in participating, or have contact information for someone you'd like to see at the event, please let us know.

Last, but not least, we are extremely grateful to our volunteers and assistant coordinators. While some positions are filled, we still have several assistant coordinator positions available and we're looking for good people to fill them. If you're creative, organized, and want to make PPD 2004 and better and better every year, please sign up. We're not asking you to sign over your life, just a small piece of it.
